"Prayer for the Great Mother and All My Relations" by bear Medicinewalker

"As the Great Mother weeps her tears...
Those very tears begin to unlock what has been hidden deep within us all.
It is a reawakening of sorts, to remind us of a simpler way of life.

One that stands with honor and respect...Integrity for what is right.

There is a movement that is rising...
Of All My Relations...
And those tears are shed...

I look to the Ancient Ones for their great sacrifice...
As their very homes are being ravished and plundered;
The waters that once were clear are now muddied by greed and ego.
Yet they still swim on, in grace and dignity, to remind us of all that has come to pass.

I Honor You...

To the Winged Ones, who fly in our sky who are suffering...
And wings can not again take flight...
Still are teaching us the lesson brought to our feet by greed and ego...
To remind us of our beginnings.

I Honor You...

For the Four Leggeds,
Whose land and waters are being tainted...
As we sit and watch...
By the greed and ego that has befallen a nation once proud.

I Honor You...

To the Two Leggeds, I pray the the Great Mother's Tears will cleanse your vision...
To see the place we have arrived at...
And although we can not change what is in our past,
We can learn from Our Future.

I ask that from this moment forward...
The tears of the awakened ones, join together in a force so great...
That we will begin a change...make a connection...and begin to heal.

May the walls come down, there is not multiple races...
There is but One...The Human Race...
And may we awaken ourselves...
And understand that without each other change will not occur.

I ask for Peace and Healing to begin and never end..."

The Wisdom of Henry David Thoreau

The Wisdom of Henry David Thoreau....

I did not wish to take a cabin passage, but rather to go before the mast and on the deck of the world, for there I could best see the moonlight amid the mountains. I do not wish to go below now.

In wilderness is the preservation of the world.

As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.

Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.

Do what you love. Know your own bone; gnaw at it, bury it, unearth it, and gnaw it still.

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.

If a man walks in the woods for love of them half of each day, he is in danger of being regarded as a loafer. But if he spends his days as a speculator, shearing off those woods and making the earth bald before her time, he is deemed an industrious and enterprising citizen.

Ignorance and bungling with love are better than wisdom and skill without.

It is better to have your head in the clouds, and know where you are... than to breathe the clearer atmosphere below them, and think that you are in paradise.

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.

Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

Money is not required to buy one necessity of the soul.

Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.

Most of the luxuries and many of the so-called comforts of life are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind.

Nature is full of genius, full of the divinity; so that not a snowflake escapes its fashioning hand.

Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain.

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.

Our life is frittered away by detail... simplify, simplify.

Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.

Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can walk with love and reverence.

Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.

That man is rich whose pleasures are the cheapest.

The light which puts out our eyes is darkness to us.
Only that day dawns to which we are awake.
There is more day to dawn. The sun is but a morning star.

The universe is wider than our views of it.

There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself.

Things do not change; we change.

We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aid, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn.

What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us.

You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.

I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined,
he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

BROTHER BEAR...I AWAIT, ACCEPT AND JOYFULLY RECEIVE!

I am a Doer...a Teacher...
But as of late, I have been feeling like there is another major shift about to occur...
I have been feeling more of heading into a place of Being and Introspection...
More internal work, and less external...
More Being in a place of receptor and less in that as giver...

Last night in the Dreamtime Bear came to me, further validating that I am beginning a time of entering the cave...of going within...of making myself ready to receive my next teacher on this ongoing journey...

It is a time to empty the cup, so that I may become filled with new wisdom, new inspiration, new guidance...
I have been shown that all of my spiritual practices and nature must be stepped up...

More time in the silence...in meditation, prayer, retreat, ceremony, ritual, places of the heart, listening to the messages of Spirit, Mother Earth and receptivity...
More time spent in writing, journeying, nature and creative pursuits...
And of allowing the guidance to flow...
More conscious focus on internal peace, wisdom and growth...
I am ready to be emptied and refilled, refueled and reinvented...
I am making ready the student so the teacher may soon appear...

"The strength of Bear Medicine is the power of introspection. It lies in West on the great medicine wheel of life. Bear seeks honey, or the sweetness of truth, within the hollow of an old tree. In the time of winter Bear enters the womb-cave to hibernate, to digest the year's experience. It is said that our goals reside in the West also. To accomplish and clarify our goals, dreams, mission and purpose, the art of introspection is necessary.

To become like Bear and enter the safety of the womb-cave, we must attune ourselves to the energies of the Eternal Mother, and receive nourishment from the placenta of the Great Void. The Great Void is the place where all solutions and answers live in harmony with the questions that fill our realities. If we choose to believe that there are many questions to life, we must also believe that the answers to these questions reside within us. Each and every being has the capacity to quiet the mind, enter the silence and know.

Many tribes have called this space of inner-knowing the Dream Lodge, where the death of the illusion of physical reality overlays the expansiveness of eternity. It is in the Dream Lodge that our ancestors sit in Council and advise us regarding alternative pathways that lead to our purpose and goals. This is the power of Bear." ~Jamie Sams/David Carson

Message received...The student awaits and accepts her next assignment with Joy and Thanksgiving!...
And May the Blessings of Spirit abound.

"Bear...Invite me into the cave, where silence surrounds the answers you gave."

As I Walk upon this Earth...I Trust (LLJL)

The author and mystic, Story Waters writes,
”Through my inner trust for my life, I choose to embrace the unfolding of my future“

The small, brave act of cooperating with life,
With all that is in the world,
Of choosing trust over cynicism, generosity over selfishness,
Makes the heart light up with quiet joy.

I have spent this past week, amidst that quiet joy on the grounds
I inhabit from time to time in the Highlands of Maine.
The land, that I choose to not claim in ownership,
But a place which I have been blessedly entrusted a sacred stewardship.

It is during these most blessed times of respite…
That Our Beloved Mother teaches me of her Wisdom…
As I spend time lovingly wrapped in Her Blessed Arms…
And pressed safely against the bosom of Her Sacred Heart Beat…
I have come to an understand One All Abiding Truth…

That our connection to the land, is where Spirit resides…
Therefore, look not to the sky…
But to the air, the water, the plants, and the trees…
And all the creatures of this Our Beloved Home…
For Spirit resides in the Earth beneath your feet…
The ground on which you stand, is a Most Sacred Place…
A Holy Haven..It is the Portal to Heaven.

My Native Family and Neighbors, of the Penobscot Nation, the original inhabitants of this place,
Have taught me of the holy bond and responsibility we all have with the land.
She trusts us as her protector, nurturer and co-creator,
And she in turn, provides unconditionally with all that she has to give.
To me, It is a most holy and sacred trust, a blessed gift.

As I walk the grounds each day, I feel this trust everywhere;
In the spirit of the true inhabitants of this land…my woodland friends,
Who reside here with me, or I should say,
Have granted me stay…here with them.
As they boldly and warmly welcome me back,
Waiting with anticipation for me to open my pack and
Offer up my gifts of carrots, apples, nuts, bread and seeds,
That I gratefully share with my friends, as we dwell in this time and place together.

I spent the week, blessedly among the trust and sanctuary of old friends,
With whom over the years, I have found a haven of
Safety, nurturance, love, and unconditional acceptance.
Trust, I have come to realize is the very basis of our existence.
Every day we trust…for if we did not, we could not exist.

We trust, when, every morning,  we place our feet on the ground,
 That it will support us.

We trust, when we turn on our faucets,
That we will be replenished and refreshed by clean running water.

We trust, when we flip the switch,
The gift of electricity will bring to us, light, warmth, music, food, entertainment
And the tools by which we live our lives.

We trust, in our interactions with others every day,
That these encounters will hold in them,
The fruits of cooperation, co-creation, love and respect.

We, trust that the food we eat, throughout our day,
Will sustain and enhance our bodies.

We trust, as we go home to our families,
At the end of our day, that all is well in our world.

And we trust, when we lay our heads down at night,
That our structures will provide, shelter and protection as we sleep.

As I venture out each day on my morning, walking meditation ritual,
I know that I am walking on sacred ground…
And I trust, that it is steady enough to support me…

And I have, also, come to indeed, realize
That anywhere I stand at any given moment…is a Most Sacred Place.

And that I can and must trust the Universe by extension
To support my steps as I move forward.
along this new and untrodden, unknown path.

I trust, in the love, compassion and belief that the Universe has in me.
It is a holy charge…and one that I do not taken lightly…

And I have learned throughout this process of transition,
That to trust myself and by extension others and the world,
Is a most worthy practice…It is the practice of authenticity.

This is the work of aligning the standards we have for ourselves
With our deepest passions and dreams.

It’s the work of making promises to ourselves and keeping them.
It’s the work of creating and discovering the kind of resources
That can and will support our success.
It’s the work of knowing who we are without judgment.

I move forward now in the light of this trust…
That I may become a worthy steward,

For not only this land…
But this world and for my place in the Divinity of the Greater Design…

For my place as an integral piece of the One Universal Heartbeat…
The One that is in All…The One that is All.

Two Wolves Within - A Cherokee Legend

Two Wolves Within - A Cherokee Legend

A Grandfather from the Cherokee Nation was talking with his grandson.

"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves."

"One wolf is evil and ugly: He is anger, envy, war, greed, self-pity, sorrow, regret, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, selfishness and arrogance."

"The other wolf is beautiful and good: He is friendly, joyful, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, justice, fairness, empathy, generosity, true, compassion, gratitude, and deep VISION."

"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other human as well."

The grandson paused in deep reflection because of what his grandfather had just said. Then he finally cried out; "Oyee! Grandfather, which wolf will win?"

The elder Cherokee replied, "The wolf that you feed."

The Legend of the White Buffalo

The Legend of the White Buffalo

The White Buffalo Legend

The White Buffalo are sacred to many Native Americans. The Lakota (Sioux) Nation has passed down the The Legend of the White Buffalo--a story now approximately 2,000 years old--at many council meetings, sacred ceremonies, and through the tribe's storytellers. There are several variations, but all are meaningful, and tell of the same outcome. Have communication with the Creator through prayer with clear intent for Peace, Harmony and Balance for all life living in the Earth Mother.

Spirituality among Natives Americans and non-Native Americans has been a strong force for those who believe in the power of the Great Spirit or God. It matters not what you call the Creator. What matters is that you pray to give thanks for your blessings and trust the guidance given to you from the world of Spirit. Many truths about Spirit are told and handed down from one generation to the next.

The legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman tells how the People had lost the ability to communicate with the Creator. The Creator sent the sacred White Buffalo Calf Woman to teach the People how to pray with the Pipe. With that Pipe, seven sacred ceremonies were given for the people to abide in order to ensure a future with harmony, peace, and balance.

Legend says that long ago, two young men were out hunting when from out of nowhere came a beautiful maiden dressed in white buckskin. One of the hunters looked upon her and recognizing her as a wakan, or sacred being, lowered his eyes. The second hunter approached her with lust in his eyes, desiring her for his woman. White Buffalo Calf Woman beckoned the lustful warrior to her, and as he approached a cloud of dust arose around them causing them to be hidden from view. When the dust settled, nothing but a pile of bones lay next to her. As she walked toward the respectful young hunter, White Buffalo Calf Woman instructed the young man to go back to the People and tell them to prepare for her arrival to teach them of the way to pray. The young hunter obeyed. When White Buffalo Calf woman arrived with the sacred bundle (the prayer pipe) she taught the People of the seven sacred ways to pray. These prayers are through ceremonies that include the Sweat Lodge for purification; the Naming Ceremony for child naming; the Healing Ceremony to restore health to the body, mind and spirit; the Adoption ceremony for making of relatives; the Marriage Ceremony for uniting male and female; the Vision Quest for communing with the Creator for direction and answers to one's life; and the Sundance Ceremony to pray for the well-being of all the People.

When the teaching of the sacred ways was complete, White Buffalo Calf Woman told the people she would again return for the sacred bundle that she left with them. Before leaving, she told them that within her were the four ages, and that she would look back upon the People in each age, returning at the end of the fourth age, to restore harmony and spirituality to a troubled land. She walked a short distance, she looked back towards the people and sat down. When she arose they were amazed to see she had become a black buffalo. Walking a little further, the buffalo laid down, this time arising as a yellow buffalo. The third time the buffalo walked a little further and this time arose as a red buffalo. Walking a little further she rolled on the ground and rose one last time as a white buffalo calf.

The changing of the four colors of the White Buffalo Calf Woman represents the four colors of man--white, yellow, red and black. These colors also represent the four directions, north, east, south and west. The sacred bundle that was left to the Lakota people is still with the People in a sacred place on the Cheyenne River Indian reservation in South Dakota. It is kept by a man known as the Keeper of the White Buffalo Calf Pipe, Arvol Looking Horse.

The legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman remains ever promising in this age of spiritual enlightenment and conscious awareness. In today's world of confusion and war many of us are looking for signs of peace. "With the return of the White Buffalo it is a sign that prayers are being heard, that the sacred pipe is being honored, and that the promises of prophecy are being fulfilled. White Buffalo signals a time of abundance and plenty."

Though our world may be harsh, throughout recorded history there have been spiritual leaders teaching peace, hope and balance among all life. This was taught by great teachers such as Jesus, Buddha, the Dali Lama's, and Native American elders. Chief Crazy Horse, Chief Seattle, and Chief Red Cloud are a few of the visionary leaders who committed their lives to bring peace, and internal happiness to all who they touched. They were tangible signs of goodwill toward all men, women and children.

White Buffalo at Spirit Mountain Ranch

Included with the tangible signs for world peace and harmony are seven sacred White Buffalo located at Spirit Mountain Ranch in Flagstaff, Arizona. The birth of a white buffalo is a rare occurance indeed. Only one in 10 million buffalo is born white. The Creator has blessed the world and all its inhabitants with a family of White Buffalo. At Spirit Mountain Ranch these White Buffalo include Miracle Moon, Rainbow Spirit, Arizona Spirit, Mandela Peace Pilgrim, Sunrise Spirit, Spirit Thunder, and Chief Hiawatha.

Miracle Moon--our first White Buffalo and now a mother--was born on April 30, 1997. Miracle Moon gave birth to Rainbow Spirit (female) on June 8, 2000, to Mandela Peace Pilgrim (female) on July 18, 2001, and to Arizona Spirit (male) on July 1, 2002. All these babies were fathered by Willy Wonka--a brown North American Bison. And now the babies are having their own white babies.

On May 22, 2004, Mandela Peace Pilgrim gave birth to Sunrise Spirit (female). Five days later on May 27, 2004, Rainbow Spirit gave birth to Spirit Thunder (male). Both these white buffalo babies were fathered by BlackJack--a brown Canadian Bison. On May 16th, 2005, Miracle Moon gave birth to the seventh white buffalo. He has been named Chief Hiawatha, after the great Onondaga chief who founded the Iriquois League of Five Nations and brought peace to the tribes of the Northeast.

These beautiful, divine energies touch all who come see them. People come to the ranch to pray and leave gifts for the sacred White Buffalo. Some weep, some marvel, and others are led to the ranch not knowing about the White Buffalo and their promise of peace and abundance. We believe the spirit of the White Buffalo calls out to the hearts of these people and directs them to the White Buffalo family.

Now, more than ever recent events that are taking place worldwide are a wake-up call to seek connection to the divine Great Spirit or God that resides within us. The return of the White Buffalo is another physical sign from the world of Spirit, ready and waiting to help us walk in our world with wisdom, knowledge, peace and love. Regardless of our race, color or form, we are all brothers and sisters who live on the same Earth mother. It is time to respect and honor each individual as we ourselves would like to be respected.

For the Love of Hawaii (LLJL) ( A Compilation)

For the Love of Hawaii by Linda Lorenzo

~ This note is in Joyous Dedication to the Energy, Mysticism and Beauty that is the Spirit of Hawaii ~

~ Mark Twain on Hawaii ~

"For me its balmy airs are always blowing, its summer seas flashing in the sun; the pulsing of its surf is in my ear; I can see its garlanded crags, its leaping cascades, its plumy palms drowsing by the shore, its remote summits floating like islands above the cloud-rack; I can feel the spirit of its woody solitudes, I hear the plashing of the brooks; in my nostrils still lives the breath of flowers that perished twenty years ago."

"This is the most magnificent, balmy atmosphere in the world--ought to take dead men out of grave."

"A Paradise for All Sorts"
"I spent several months in the Sandwich Islands, six years ago, and, if I could have my way about it, I would go back there and remain the rest of my days. It is paradise for an indolent man. If a man is rich he can live expensively, and his grandeur will be respected as in other parts of the earth; if he is poor he can herd with the natives, and live on next to nothing; he can sun himself all day long under the palm trees, and be no more troubled by his conscience than a butterfly would.

When you are in that blessed retreat, you are safe from the turmoil of life; you drowse your days away in a long deep dream of peace; the past is a forgotten thing, the present is heaven, the future you leave to take care of itself. You are in the center of the Pacific Ocean; you are two thousand miles from any continent; you are millions of miles from the world; as far as you can see, on any hand, the crested billows wall the horizon, and beyond this barrier the wide universe is but a foreign land to yo u, and barren of interest."
